Rob Zombie

Wow! It’s later in the day to be writing a blog post about something “fresh”…

Operation Manatee will be back this evening at 11:00 pm for your aural pleasures! I know I’m always pleased… pleasured… um… happy?

But whatever your status, tune in later tonight to hear some new tracks just in time for the spring to summer rush; new Queens of the Stone Age, new The Transplants and yes… new Rob Zombie as well!

Operation Manatee #3: Feeling (S-)Mashy

Image

Luckily, Cory didn’t break the CJTR feed last week so here we come again.. another Tuesday night, another Operation Manatee coming for your ear-holes!

Last week we got a little electronic-happy. Not that it’s a bad thing, but too much electro makes Cory something-something… every intent was being prepared to bring the hammer down this week, to be loud, abrasive and unashamed!

But that’s not likely about to happen. Tune in tonight (or tomorrow’s recording) to find out just how it all mashes together!

Episode 2 is LIVE!! (in recorded form…)

GOOD NEWS everyone! My recording last night didn’t break the internet nor did it break the CJTR signal. So in case you missed Operation Manatee, episode 2, you can now listen to it here:

Operation Manatee – Episode 2

So now if you’ve missed the show because “we’re on too late” or “I have to get up early on Wednesdays” or “I don’t know how to work tech-mologies”… here you go!

Operation Manatee #2: In which Cory mourns a piece of his youth…

Yes, yes, we’re back! Every Tuesday night from 11:00 PM to midnight, Chris and Cory will lead you on a small musical journey through some of our favorite songs to some new hits to some just plain, weird noises.

This week will be an experiment. We’ve always wanted to try to record the show so those of you who aren’t night owls can listen as well. There might be a breakthrough and we’re not sure if it will work in glorious fashion or take down the whole radio station. You’ll have to listen to find out!

……or of course, if it works, then listen later… (cough).

NO No Doubt… Bad!

Last night, I saw a tweet across my Twitter feed from the wonderful Eric Alper (@ThatEricAlper) that read;

No Doubt are back in the studio working on their next album. They plan to postpone some of their 2013 touring so they can record new tunes.

Firstly, if you have Twitter and you’re a music fan that ISN’T following Eric you need to give your head a quick shake. Then find the follow button. That man is genius and posts a ton of useful industry related news, high in Canadian content as well.

But for the crux of my post: I saw this tweet and the first thing that I immediately thought of is “Wow, that’s pretty cool. There will be new No Doubt later this year.” I turned off my phone and rolled back over in my bed. But as I’m prone to do while trying to fall asleep I began to over-think this tweet and it began to bum me out. Postponing their tour to record new music ultimately pushes out content, which drives up revenue. AND it’s probably easier to control your recording times than to spend time on the road, interacting with your fans and spreading your message and music.

The last thought I had made me sad… essentially, I feel that No Doubt is going back to squirrel away in a recording studio because it’s easier and more profitable to record new music instead of being with your fans. And new music is awesome, but postponing a tour to do this feels selfish.
